It's the send off from friends, family, and even random guests that always get me. Although, I mean, I've been to my fair share of weddings where the toasts have been . . . shall we say, less than planned, but they come from the heart and that's all that matters. And some, like the favourites I'm about to list, are epic quotes from literature or prominent figures that illustrate the aspects of love being celebrated at any wedding.

SO, here are a few of my favourite toasts/quotes that I've collected here and there! Hopefully they inspire you prairie brides (and grooms, and attendants) for when your time comes to raise the glass!

Sunday Sunlight - Guestbook, Placement, & Favour Tables

Ahh, I love Sundays! Even though I have to work every single one, they always resonate as that fresh extension to what is probably a glorious, work-free weekend for all you normal people out there! Also just makes me think of Sunday brunch. Mmm, I could eat Sunday brunch all day every day! . . . now I want brunch, damn.

I digress! You didn't come here to listen to me quip about sweet, sweet bacon. Another time. Something else that's super fresh and glorious on my radar right now is what people are doing with their guestbook or seating arrangement tables! That's right, those big displays at the front that tell you where to sit, and also invite you to leave a note or piece of advice for the newly-wedded. Maybe you'll put your favours here, or an example of the menu? Who knows! These are all prime real estate for you DIY brides to show your stuff. I've seen typewriters, I've seen flags, I've seen scrabble pieces artfully glued together. But what about you? Found anything interesting in your own blog surfage? I've got a few here I think you'll like, and hopefully they'll give you some excellent ideas of your own. (I'm definitely having an antique typewriter at mine. It's written in stone now! No turning back!)

So I follow a ridiculous amount of wedding blogs. Call me a Super Connoisseur, if you will. I devour them and gather ideas like some kind of crow on a quest for shiny, pretty things, to build my own wedding nest out of. As such, you better believe I have quite a few favourites saved and tucked away! What super-thrilled me about this entire thing, aside from the fact it took place in Scotland, aside from the fact that the couple is absolutely beautiful and ASIDE from the fact that the groom is wearing a kilt - but the bride, also a milliner, made her exquisite woolen-steampunky wedding gown on her onesies. That is what I call a Power Bride.

Sunday Sunlight - Dances

Following the vein of my last Sunday Sunlight post, I'm just gonna plow on through with more videos, because honestly, I rip apart YouTube every day for wedding stuff and it never ends. 

As you can tell from last week, I love the whole musical aspect that comes part in parcel with weddings/romance/anything lovey. Probably stems from my ridiculous amour for musicals, or the fact that I think life ITSELF ought to be a musical, and singing and dancing things caught on video in a well constructed manner is as close as I'm going to get to that! I fantasize about things in song and dance numbers even. I've got a few thousand wonderful screws loose, but let's keep it fresh!

This week: wedding dances! And not just the first dance, which in itself is a moment to provide iconic, epic memories for your guests and even your children (a dream of mine - "Look at how cool mummy and daddy were at their wedding, doing a choreographed number to OK Go!"). 

This first one is an internet classic, and an idea/song that was totally ripped by The Office, so you know it has cred:

This one not ONLY delivers on the dance, but the Dancing With The Stars spoof preamble with the bride and groom always gets me. So hilarious! And makes the lead up to the 'death drop' soo tantilizing. Amazing job!

This one doesn't necessarily have amazing choreography or anything it, but everyone just seems so wonderfully happy, and seeing little four year old girls and 60 year old grannies dancing to one of my favourite Beyonce songs makes me happier than ever.

And this one, well...It's Hitch. And it's Albert Brenneman. And my boyfriend dances without shame like Albert does. And this is an epic party. So WHY NOT!?

Sunday Sunlight - Proposals

Let the sunlight in

Today I'd like to introduce a new concept for our Sunday double feature: we're calling it Sunday Sunlight, which will comprise one of the day's two entries. It will be filled with something sunshine-y, brilliant, inspiring and fun on your Sunday afternoon wed-browse. 

This afternoon's version of Sunday Sunlight is about proposals! The idea for something like this came to me after I realized I'd been spending over two hours trolling YouTube for awesome, creative, and most of all unique proposal videos. I can't get enough of them. I think it's always the way the bride-to-be reacts at the end of the surprise or spectacle that ensues. Prairie grooms, take notes! And prairie brides--enjoy.
