Recording Studio, Painting Studio, Cake Studio

Trucking along with our cake theme, I must say! I'm really excited about this feature, because not only am I head over heels for the custom work and the intricate detail present in EVERY one of this designer's pieces, but this here marks the first vendor submission to Little Bride on the Prairie! Since we had such a great response with our feature on High Tea Bakery, I know you guys are just going to go super nutty with sugary joy for today's tasty treat:

 ♥

Now, unlike other cake designers in Winnipeg, Cake Studio does not have a retail outlet. Winner of Wedding Wire's Bride's Choice Awards 2011, they are Winnipeg's first and only by appointment custom cake studio, going along the same vein as 'Ace of Cakes' or 'Ron Ben Israel'. Their immense portfolio is filled with entirely-commissioned client pieces for special events, birthdays, and, of course, weddings.

Owner and IKA Culinary Gold Medalist Nina Notaro says Cake Studio's main focus is "all in the details . . . which shows in the intricate workmanship of a Cake Studio creation." And look at these gorgeous, delectable treats! I think I'm going to go ahead and agree with Nina on this one. Though I'm sure you can tell, their specialty is with all those lovely, realistic sugarpaste flowers.

Okay. I'm gonna level with you guys. I worked in a florist for nearly four years, and I've had close contact with a lot of the things that Nina works so hard to replicate. I am honestly having a hard time telling the difference between her sugarpaste oriental lilies and the real thing. These are incredible.

Also, the best part about decorative sugarpaste or gumpaste components is that you can save them as a keepsake from the cake, rather than stuffing the entire thing behind your china cabinet. It's also a nice alternative to keeping the usual bride and groom/monogram topper should you choose to discard those entirely. This is something I'd definitely go for.  As always, all recipes are made from scratch, and, of course, love.

Besides cakes, Cake Studio provides a wide selection of custom cupcakes, cakelettes, dessert buffets, cookie favours, and chocolate and sugar showpieces. In addition to creating for you a cake of epic proportions, Cake Studio provides on-site delivery, on-site set up, pick up, and tastings.

So if you've been convinced by all the sugary and chocolately goodness that Nina has to offer, feel free to sit down with her and chat about it! Nina's headquarters and showroom are located at 1483 Wellington Avenue. She can be contacted for consultations at ninanotaro@mts.net, or 204-775-9378. You can also use one of the contact forms to schedule your free appointment. Remember to let Cake Studio know if you have any allergies or food aversions so everyone can go home cake-happy and EPI-pen free.

My sushi obsessed boyfriend would LOVE this cake!
For more information, take a peek at Cake Studio's FAQ, pricing, client reviews, flavour choices (MM salted caramel and peanut butter!), and holy-incredible portfolio of custom wedding and event pieces. Nina, Little Bride on the Prairie salutes you and your amazing work! Please don't retire anytime soon for the sake of prairie brides.

High Tea for Two

High Tea, anyone
I love weddings. I believe this has become more than obvious! I love absolutely every single thing about them, from the first course of the reception dinner down to the tulle in the bride's underskirt. But there is one thing that I cannot take my nuptial-addicted eyes off of for a second lest my heart fail.

That's right! The cake! Oh don't look at me like that.

Before I threw myself into publishing, I wanted desperately to be a professional wedding cake designer, and I coveted, hourly, the gorgeous cakes of the masters who were out there making the most beautiful, delicious things I'd ever seen.  But right now, right this second, right in your very city my fabulous prairie brides, there is your very own master around the corner. It's a company that, believe me, is doing way more than my little buttercream dreams can manufacture!

High Tea Bakery has been a known name in Winnipeg for delicious treats and elegant cakes for years. And as time, and trends, move on, they've been powering through and coming out with cakes that are more art pieces than wedding yummies! (But believe me, they're still yummy, don't worry.)

But elegant tier cakes, as lucious as the bows and flowers are, are not all that High Tea Bakery restricts their innovative scope to. They are also known in Winnipeg for their amazing 3-D fondant cakes the likes of which would make the contestants on Cake Boss swoon.

I know Miss Charlie would die for a Manolo cake. Oh lord, who WOULDN'T?
Very clever birthday cake

Look at that newspaper! Sooo intricate!
But obviously that's not enough! C'mon, is it possible to get enough of them? High Tea Bakery also offers a wide range of cupcakes, cookies, and petit fours for your varying tastes. If you're like me, then yes, you'll have many.

See, I wasn't kidding when I said that High Tea Bakery had it all to satisfy your every craving! Now it's up to you to venture down to 2013 Portage Avenue and see these gorgeous creations for yourself. Should you be planning your wedding and curious about prices, you can also query them here for a personalized quote on your specs, or read through their FAQ or Pricing. High Tea Bakery also offers decorating classes should you want to foray into the cake world with your own two hands!

So get out there and drool little prairie brides, because it's your day. Shouldn't it be as delicious as you?
